Ask about my ADU idea

Only looking for rule-change emails? Request email updates.

A rough idea is enough to ask, and no address is needed. Want to read first? See what an ADU costs, planning for family or ADU basics.

Asking a question won’t add you to an email list, and email updates won’t start a project conversation. Neither is a public comment or a petition, and we aren’t part of any local government. Your municipality decides what’s allowed.

Public meetings, useful learning opportunities, and progress on local rules. Each entry has a source, a status, and a date we checked it.

Rochester’s revised draft and review documents are available

The ZAP document library identifies an April 2026 final draft zoning code and map, with environmental review materials. The city’s June staff report describes revisions following earlier public review.

“Final draft” still describes a proposal. This bulletin has not verified an adopted replacement code or an effective date. Read the existing rules separately from the draft.
